BETTER PARTNERSHIP AND INCLUSION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITY

Hey guys,

Today is International Day for People with Disability. I am excited today because it is a day set aside to create more awareness about disability and disability related issues and how we can join forces together to support, partner and achieve the future that we want.

I believe that every human on earth is a change agent because there is something everyone can do and contribute towards the future we desire. That is why the theme of this year's International Day for People with Disability is 'Achieving 17 Goals for the Future We Want'. Just like the 17th Sustainable Development Goals, It is all about PARTNERSHIP!.

According to the United Nation, this years objective include assessing the current status of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and laying the foundation for a future of greater inclusion for persons with disabilities.
Talking about inclusion, everyone should be involve because an inclusive world is a world that works for everyone no matter your generation. To persons living with any form of disability young or old, it means having an inclusive accessible home, education, hospital, classroom, roads, shopping mall, cinemas, work environment, funds, training, opportunity and a level playing filed in the society in general devoid of environmental, physical and attitudinal barriers. The world have moved on from the charity and medical models dragging us back to dealing with human rights issues facing persons living with disabilities.

As we now know, disability can be many things to different people so when it comes to love, care, affection, tolerance, protection, inclusion and acceptance etc. just like all children deserve, children with disabilities case shouldn't be an exception. We can achieve a lot in our communities, nations, internationally and globally if and only when we partner and collaborate with each other.

Nigeria as a country is a signed the convention and is expected to comply implement what has been signed.

Wherever in the world you are today, you are an activist so create awareness about disability related issues. Become an advocate today! Don't wait until it knocks on your door to take action.

This global blueprint for action summons us to "Leave no one behind" _ Ban Ki-Moon

TOGETHER LET'S DO MORE!!!
