Hey guys!!!
Compliments of the season to you all. This month has been very busy for me. It is filled with loads of activities. So one of the things I did this month was to go on a radio advocacy tour with my friends (Freky of Faecare Foundation, Nne, and Osaki) during the just concluded International Day for persons with Disability.
Our radio tour was very important because we needed to get the message of INCLUSION out there. We wanted to let people know that 'Person's Living with any form of Disability' are no longer and should not totally be seen as a case of charity. The world have moved on from the 'Charity Position' to the 'Human Rights Position' and it will only be wise to do the right thing in this part of the world.
Until we begin to see and address disability as a human rights issue, we will continue to see Persons with Disabilities as a charity case. We will continue to see Person's with Disability on the streets who can't access good education, can't find work and earn a decent living, who will live in penury without respect, people who cannot be self reliant and are always seen as societal problem.
On our tour, we encouraged organizations, government, institutions, groups, families as well as individuals to participate, support and generally do their best to contribute towards making our society a livable space for Person's with Disability.
Nigeria accented to the United Nation's Convention for the Right's of Persons with Disability Bill a few years ago so it is not out of place for our government to sign our disability bill to law in Nigeria.
Together, lets join hands to make the world a better place for all.
