7 SCRIPTURES THAT HELPS US CARRY ON!!!

Philippians 1:12-14
“Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.”

And-Who-Shall-Go-To-The-Ball-–-GCSE1-840x560
Candoco Dance Company exists to change people’s perception of disability, and highlight what people can do, not can’t. An ethos close to Disability Horizon’s heart, so we were keen to speak to them about their recent performance, playing another, and up and coming projects in the future.
Please can you tell Disability Horizons readers a bit about Candoco Dance Company and how it first came about?
Candoco Dance Company is an inclusive dance company of disabled and non-disabled artists. We aim to challenge and broaden perceptions of art and ability by creating excellent and ground-breaking performances. We have been touring all over the world since the company was first founded in 1991 and we’ve had the opportunity to work with many of the world’s leading choreographers and perform in iconic venues.

WHY DO WE WORRY?...

Driving to school for my big final, and I am overwhelmed with fear. I have studied and studied, done all my homework and paid attention in class, yet I am worried what grade I will make.
I am trying to decide what career I will do after college. Where will I live? How much money will I make? Is that enough money? Will I love my job? Will I even like my job?

HOW THE BLIND WEAR MAKE-UP....

Emily with make up on her eyes. She has brown eyeshadow and black eyeliner to a point and mascara.
"Putting on make-up is tricky enough if you have practised in front of a mirror for years. But how do blind people do this most visual of things"?

"I use a brush, do five swirls across my blush and tap it to remove the excess," says Christine Ha in a YouTube video which shows how she applies make-up without a mirror. Ha is blind and received much attention after becoming the winner of the US series of Masterchef in 2012. "I smile to find the apples of my cheeks, and then lightly brush [the blush] on from the apples to my temples." "Like my cooking," Ha writes on her blog, "it all comes down to sense of touch and lots of practice."

WOUNDED BUT NOT BROKEN...... MEET THOMAS STEVENS.

The 17-year-old now uses a prosthetic hook to slice cuts of meat in the shop, which he says is 'easier'
An apprentice butcher forced to have his hand amputated when it became stuck in a mincing machine is back at work, just 26 days after the horrendous accident. Thomas Stevens had only been working for six weeks when his right hand became trapped in the unsafe machine at P and K Meats in Street, Somerset.
Paramedics were forced to amputate the then 16-year-old's hand after 30 minutes, with the teenager's boss later found guilty of health and safety offences and ordered to pay thousands in court.
