‘turn your passion into a successful business? This saying can be used to your
advantage if you love to shop. It doesn't matter what you love buying, what
really matter is your ability to figure out a way to transform your interests
into a business venture.
Starting a personal shopper
business can be a perfect choice if you love to shop. The world and people in
it have never been busier than it is today. Most individuals no longer have
time to shop for the things they need. On the other hand, there are lots of
unemployed youths in the labour queue waiting for white collar jobs. My friends
wait no more!!! Fill the need and become a personal shopper.
Who is a personal shopper?
A personal shopper (PS) is a
liaison or an occupation where people or a person help others shop. A Personal
Shopper’s job is to make connection between their clients and their need. In a
nutshell, they are the middle men between their client and the market/shop.
A personal shopper can decide to
be specialized in one area e.g. ‘stylist’ (wardrobe/fashion shopper) or
versatile and flexible meaning they can combine roles e.g. household, wardrobe,
electronics etc. shopper. All of this will be dependent on the person’s skills
and knowledge. A PS has the right to decide who s/he clientele will be. A PS may
also decide to work with a company, a store, group or individuals. Whatever your decision, you will certainly
need key tips to becoming efficient and effective personal shopper.
Key Tips.

Be trustworthy: Trust is a very VERY scarce commodity in today’s world and to
succeed in this line of business, you will need people to not just trust your
person, but your skills and sense of judgement. If your client can confidently
trust you, ‘your market don sell be dat’. Here, you don’t need cash to start.
All you need Is to up your trust game.

Be
Passionate: Love what you do passionately. If you find shopping boring, how
then can you shop for others? If you bring passion into the equation, shopping
won't seem like work.

Provide
Effective and Efficient Customer Service: Understanding that your
client/customer is king and treating them as one is the beginning of your
success story. Your challenge therefore will be to get your customers to
generate positive buzz about your business. They will, if you give them
excellent service and a reason to recommend you.

Be
Creative: Your ability to be creative will help you satisfy your customers.
Creativity is key in this line of business.
· Advertise/Sell
Yourself: Always tell people about what you do. Get a well-designed and
outlined complimentary card/handbills. Make sure you carry them along with you
when out and about. Spread the word in your local church, neighbourhood, tells
a friend to tell a friend…….. Use social media sites e.g. Facebook, twitter you never know who will be
calling.

Have a
Right Attitude: Let you feeling, disposition, manner, etc. regarding people
and things be positive. Success is all in the attitude as your attitude drives
your results.

Believe
In yourself: Concentrate more on your strengths, don't stop learning and in
all, love yourself.

See
Opportunities: If opportunities were that easy, everyone would flock them.
They are everywhere…….. I mean opportunities…… see them.
