MAIDS DESERVE BETTER.

Image result for maid

I often wonder why house maids run away. Most maids don't even last for a week, some leave after the first month in their new home. Some in a bid to pay back their employer, maltreat and manhandle the children that they are supposed to be caring for. In retaliation, their employer will be forced to beat, starve and mistreat their maids. In the end, they are sent packing for being wicked and crazy.

Here is the thing, are these young girls sent off to live with relatives and non relatives as maids really that bad? Do they all have wicked intentions? Do they really want to hit and mistreat the children they are caring for? Are all maids evil? Don't this children deserve better treatment? Hmmmmm I thing they do deserve better and here is why.

  • Maids deserve to be loved and cared for. If you don't love and care for your maid like your own, you will never get the best out of them.
  • They deserve to be educated, skilled or in training. Your maid will not be happy just caring for your beloved kids while you are away and not do other things they ought to be doing.
  • They have a will and a purpose. These children have dreams too they want to be somebody. Looking after your kids and manning your home isn't all there is to them. You might be paying them some money but to me, your money is not commensurate to their dreams.
  • They deserve to be heard. Talk to your maid. don't just call and ask if your kids are OK and if they have been fed, changed and asleep. Sometimes, ask the questions, sit down with them and have a descent conversation.
  • They deserve a better place. They should't just be found in the kitchen, lobby or the kids bedroom. It is OK for them to seat in the living room and watch TV with everyone else.
  • Take care of your maid. They deserve to be better treated. Buy they better clothes, shoes, hair, etc. Let they look decent. I don't know if it is just me but I can easily spot a maid in the crowd. it should never be so.
  • Be patient with them. They need time to settle in and acclimatize. Teach them how things are done around your house with love and patience.
The list is endless but I will stop here. Remember, looking after a home with kids is a huge responsibility. A responsibility that many of this maids are never prepared to shoulder. It is for this same reason that pushed you to seek for help. Treat your help right and they will treat you and your's right. I have some colleagues who are yet to resume work because of maid wahala. This situation can be stressful.
Nobody really want their child to grow up in another man's house talk less of being a maid. Life happens and people are forced to make certain decisions. See having another mans child helping you out as a privileged and not a right.

What do you think?
